guns from wallyworld

Post by gobbleinwoods on Wed Apr 16, 2008 6:58 am

anyone ever purchase a rifle from Wally? I could not find what I was looking for at Cabelas or Scheels yesterday so when at WW I looked and they can get Weatherby Vintage, Rem 700, or Marlin Mark II in 7mm. I know no follow up service, I would have to boresight, etcc but they are 50 to 100 less than Cabelas etc.

The manufacturers don't make a cheaper version by the same name is my real question.

I bought a Weatherby from WW a few years ago. Great gun with no problems. Same quality as Cabelas or anywhere else.

The Wal-Marts around me don't carry guns any longer either. My dad is convinced that Chicago's Mayor Daley made Wal-Mart stop selling guns in Illinois or he wouldn't let them open stores inside Chicago city limits. Daley is a die-hard antigunner and always tries to push his agenda on the rest of the state.

I told my dad that Wal-Mart doesn't get strong-armed by anyone, that they do all the strong-arming themselves because they are so big. But my father is a bit of a conspiracy theorist I guess, I think right now he's trying to help O.J. Simpson track down the real killers. He's also pretty sure the CIA killed Kennedy.

I bought my .270 from WalMart, and it was about the same price new as a used .270 700 at the pawn shop. Plus mine has a cool laminated stock, not a boring walnut one.

Mine will shoot 1" groups at 100 yards wil cheap ammo if I'm "on" that day. Otherwise it's more like 1.5", but still pretty good!

Mine is an ADL, not BDL, so you can see some of the finish work isn't quite as nice, but the deer seem to be just as dead, as long as I do my part.

Of course now there is only one Wal mart around here you can buy firearms, and that one is about 45 minutes from my house. All the rest carry muzzleloaders at the most...

Nebraska the good life. The WW here is a super store and must have 200 shotguns and rifles in stock. The currently don't have what I am looking for but will order it. There are a few good reasons to live here. Razz

they still sell them around me, but I heard they are gonna stop doing it...

It will be a sad day when they do because they are usually a lot cheaper than the gun shop!

went shopping this afternoon. not buying yet. Scheels, a regional Cabelas/BPS, has a slightly used Weatherby in 270 Weatherby Mag.

From the ballistics it looks like it has enough energy for any big game in NA. Anyone have an opinion>?

Weatherby ammo is pricey and not always available, at least here, I was looking into a Weatherby b4 I got my Howa & was having a hard time finding ammo available just to compare pricing.

I noticed the price was 1.5X what everything else on the shelf was. But how often are you going to shoot the darn thing once it is sighted in?

thats up to you, I USED to go & shoot at least twice a year & spend a whole day just messing around, yeah, it was expensive just for the one day,,well, expensive for me anyways.
6-8 boxes add up quick at 18-22 bucks a box.

.308
30-06
40 cal
7.62 x 39 was the cheapest.
