I bought my 10/22 at Wal-Mart. Same gun I could have bought anywhere else.

gobble, buy it from ww. you can't go wrong. And I wouldn't be to worried about ammo prices. I just bought a Glock Model 20 yesterday and ordered a case of rounds for it. 1,000 rounds- 683 bucks my cost. That'll get me through a couple months and by then I'll be reloading the brass.

actually the local sporting goods beat ww price on one, equal on one and was 30 higher on another. My issue now is caliber size now. It has been running 50/50 7mm vs. 300 until the used 270 entered the picture.

It is barely used 270. Weatherby Ultralite retail 1850, normally sells new for 1650 or so, with a Leupold 4.5-14 VX-L 50 mm mounted on it, retail 800. they want 1800 for the set up and will throw in two boxes of ammo.

I put it on hold to think about it cyclops

I think I would be all over that .270, myself. Sounds like a nice gun, and I think it's hard to beat that particular round.
