Post by archer1983 on Fri Mar 28, 2008 10:31 pm

Anyone here ever blank bale for a while? Was wondering how long you did it. I am thinking of doing this when the GTO gets here....

Thanks fellas,
archer

No but its worth a try.

I just figured since I'm soon to be a binary cam man, I might want to get off to a good start with the new system.

Anyone ever do it?

Blank Baling is usually for learning back tension or for form practice only from my understanding. It's to keep you from freaking out by not hitting a "small" target, but to just focus on the draw, form, release, follow-thru!

back tension releases are pretty much all I shoot this time of the year. I never use a index finger release. In fact I despise them never have shot one the right way. Thumb trigggers for hunting, back tension for target and 3d.

I'm thinking I might use this time to break a few old habits and at the same time get used to the feel of the new bow.

It is a good idea to do this from time to time, even if you are not changing anything. Hell, I do it everyday, only I add a chrono into the mix.

I do close my eyes after I settle in, but not all of the time. The key is to concentrate on your form, and most importantly, the shot sequence.

well I guess I also do it to ensure shot sequence. I cant always be consistent in the timing of the actual shot. Sometimes my shot sequence "times out". I can no longer hold my breath and panic sets in.

What has worked for me is a couple of different things;

1.) taking the site completely off and shooting with my eyes closed focusing on only the shot, and the shot only. (blind bale)

2.) Leaving the site on and settling the pin on a large target. OR completely not settling the pin at all, but rather staring at the pin and the target but not trying to hit anything specific (no intended target.

umm, I have never done it, so no experience here.
I dont di back tension or thumb releases, got a neat little fat lip one time i tried it,,,no more.
I am OK with my Scott release, funny i liked it more than the carters & Porter releases I tried, as well as teh Spot hogg release, teh carter just felt good for me.

I tried a blank bale for about three shots once. I hated not being able to draw back and aim at the target. If your going from a caliper release to a back tension or thumb release then I would recommend staying close to the target for the first few shots in case you screw up. Other than that stand back at 20 yards and shoot away.

Blind bailing is a great way to work on your form and your release. I also go to it when I have bouts with target panic caused by too much 3-D shooting pirat Seems to help get me back on track
