I recently set up a ull-blown, top end Mac Pro, and by the time I was done, it was about $18K *L* But that's with an 8-core processor, 16 GB of RAM, something like 2 Terabytes of Hard Disk space...

I use a 24" 2.4 Gig Core2Duo iMac here at work with 3 GB of RAM and a 300 GB Hard Drive. Certainly not the top of the line Mac, but it gets the job done, plus the all-in-one form factor is dead sexy.

I love computers. I will definitely have to check one out when our PC goes whack at the house!

That's the same computers that my wife and all her employees use. Those are sweet.

They are very nice.... Small footprint, and the glossy screen is awesome. I actually run a 24" monitor and a 20" secondary monitor. With graphics, the more screen space, the better.

This is my dream setup:

Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)
32GB (8 x 4GB) RAM
300GB 15,000-rpm SAS
300GB 15,000-rpm SAS
300GB 15,000-rpm SAS
300GB 15,000-rpm SAS
NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB (Stereo 3D, two dual-link DVI)
Apple Cinema HD Display (30" flat panel)
Apple Cinema HD Display (30" flat panel)
One 16x SuperDrive
AirPort Extreme card (Wi-Fi)
Apple Mighty Mouse
Apple Keyboard (English) + Mac OS X
AppleCare Protection Plan for Mac Pro (w/or w/o Display) - Auto-enroll

8 Cores, Dual 30" monitors... hell yeah! Only $23K.... Crying or Very sad

I like the way they centralize it. Saves a lot of space. I got play on one of those first ones you pictured. they are super fast!

Yeah, the iMacs are really nice, and fast, especially since they "only" have a dual core system. The MacPro Tower I posted is now a standard EIGHT core system..... insane!

Basically the *insert extreme, sexy supercar reference here* of the computing world. They are pretty tight on exports of MacPro towers as they are actually classified as a supercomputer by the US Gov't!

Noel, when you decide to possibly get one, call me and I can help you pick what you need and help you get set up and running. Nice thing about getting a Mac at an Apple store is you can bring your old machine in and they'll move everything over for you. Especially if you have a PC, they really like to help with migration. Once you have a Mac, when you buy a new Mac, it's really quick to get everything moved over and when you're done, everything will look exactly like it did on your old machine. It's pretty awesome.

I know enough about bows to be dangerous, but I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to Macs and how they operate.

I'll keep that in mind Bro!

My aunt bought a MAC, and it seemed pretty cool, although I wasn't real sure how to use it. It's definitley got some great features. Heck, looks alone, I would buy one! Very Happy

Yeah, they defiantly have everyone else beat in the industrial design department, and the software is pretty frickin sweet, too.

I tend to run mostly Adobe products, but the stuff that comes onboard, as well as the Apple-authored stuff you can buy (for CHEAP, mind you) such as website authoring programs and the like are REALLY easy to use.
