buckthorn camo

Post by markalbob on Tue Apr 01, 2008 4:20 pm

A while ago, like last fall, I got an unsolicited offer to try out some Buckthorn camo, they asked in return I write an evaluation of it. I accepted and a week later got a pair of pants, a button-style shirt, and a baseball cap from them. I thought "cool", did a brief write-up, and posted it at AT.

No word after, till yesterday; I just got a long-sleeve T-shirt from them in a package yesterday also.

Can't complain about that.

Just checked out their site... Stuff kinda looks like Advantage Timber. I like AT, but it has too much green for hunting here... Greys work better, IMO.. of course, I've killed deer wearing AT, Mossy Oak, Fusion and Hardwoods... sometimes all at the same time....

Stephen,

I posted the same thing; too much green for up here, and i'd have also liked to see heavier stitching and a tag loop in the back of the shirt.

as for the rest though, it's a nice pattern and it's decent clothing, if I was paying top dollar i'd want the loop and stitching but it's nice midgrade stuff with a good early season pattern, but year, end of Sept and things around here start to look a lot more brown and grey instead of green.......

Yeah, you're farther North than I am.. we're pretty green well into October, but one morning you wake up and WHAM... leaves are gone and it's 20˚ outside.

Looks decent for Turkey or early season here, and I guess for $40 for a coat, you can only expect so much.

Have you guys ever seen/used Backwoods or whatever it's called? They used to sponsor a show on Outdoor, but I haven't seen them advertising in awhile. I checked them out at one time and it seemed pretty decent. You could get pants, a shirt, hat and something else for like $99 totoal...

Buckthorn is good camo. I was a field tester for them when they first started a couple years ago. It is good camo. It is very light in color which I like.

it's too green for the second half of season here but it's pretty light, as Quint said, which is a plus.
